KINGSTON, Jamaica—Humble Lion FC president Christopher Jackson says the club’s return to the Jamaica Premier League is about more than simply regaining its place in Jamaica’s top flight.

After securing promotion, Jackson believes the club has the foundation to compete at a high level and establish itself as a permanent fixture in the league.

“This promotion means everything to me personally and to everyone associated with Humble Lion FC,” Jackson said, crediting the players, coaching staff, management, sponsors, supporters and the wider Effortville and Clarendon communities for their role in the club’s return.

The president said relegation was a difficult period for the club, but Humble Lion never lost belief that it could return to the Premier League.

“When the club was relegated, it was undoubtedly a difficult moment for everyone associated with Humble Lion,” he said. “While we were disappointed, we never lost faith in the club’s ability to return to the Premier League.”

Jackson identified unity as the biggest factor behind the successful promotion campaign, highlighting the commitment of the players and coaching staff, along with the support of sponsors, fans and the wider community.

However, he acknowledged that returning to the top flight required the club to overcome financial and operational challenges, while also rebuilding confidence following relegation.

Now back among the country’s elite, Jackson said Humble Lion’s immediate focus is strengthening the squad, retaining key players and providing the coaching staff with the resources needed to compete.

The club is also looking to improve its operations, facilities and relationships with sponsors and partners as it prepares for the increased demands of Premier League football.

But Jackson insists Humble Lion is not approaching the season with a survival mentality.

“I’d say success is about building something sustainable,” he said. “Of course, securing our Premier League status is an important objective because it gives the club the stability to continue growing. But we’re not coming into this season with a survival mentality alone.”

“We want to establish Humble Lion as a competitive and respected Premier League club that can consistently challenge every opponent.”

The 2026/27 Jamaica Premier League season will officially kick off on August 23, with Humble Lion opening their season against Tivoli Gardens.
