SIX expectant juveniles faced the starter on Saturday, August 8, 2026 for the season’s eagerly awaited opening two-year-old contest, and it was Boss Over Boss who announced himself in style.

Trained by Jason DaCosta and ridden by Robert Halledeen, the 6-5 favourite Sooryavanshi was expected to challenge but it was Boss Over Boss who grabbed early control and never looked back.

The start was seamless with all six loading without issue. Trouble came immediately for outermost runner
Mandy and Abigail Able, who veered sharply right toward mid-track and destroyed her chances.

Boss Over Boss surged clear of Sooryavanshi and Omar Walker, eventually cruising home to a comfortable 2¾-length victory in a time of 36.1 seconds after an opening two-furlong split of 24.1.

Sooryavanshi held second, with Pop Rocket and Ian Spence finishing third. Mandy recovered for fourth, followed by Glama Girl and Yeet in last.

The win marked DaCosta’s third triumph in the season’s inaugural juvenile feature in the last four years, following Bandura in 2023 and Miss MoneyPenny in 2024. That run interrupted Gary Subratie’s 2025 score with Salute The Don.

Foaled March 6, the chestnut colt by Bern Identity out of Woman Is Boss comes from strong breeding. The dam has already produced Kholbear, She’s My Destiny, Galopin De Veloz, Woman In Love, and Bigger Boss.
