Multi-platinum selling rapper Cardi B is set to headline a concert in Jamaica on Sunday, October 18 at the National Stadium.

The event, billed Cardi B and Friends, forms part of the BZR WKND (pronounced Bizarre Weekend) which runs from October 16-18.

According to a release from the organisers, the performance marks Cardi B’s first-ever headlining stadium concert in the Caribbean, bringing her celebrated love for dancehall culture and connection to her Caribbean roots to the island.

Cardi B, who is of Dominican and Trinidadian roots, has been credited for elevating the relevance of female rappers in popular music. Among her Billboard Hot 100 hits are Bodak Yellow, I Like It, Girls Like You with Maroon 5, Outside, WAP and Up.

The Grammy-winning artiste is the female rapper with the most number one singles (5) on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She also has the most diamond-certified songs (4) among female rappers.

BZR WKND’s three-day celebration of music, culture, tourism, fashion, and entertainment will kick off with the BZR WKND Welcome Party on Friday, October 16, followed by the TIDAL RAVE Beach Party: WYFL Edition on Saturday, October 17, before culminating with Cardi B & Friends on Sunday, October 18.
