More than 500 Jamaican children between the ages of three and 18 are set to benefit from D’Angel’s Back to School Benefit Concert as the entertainer marks a decade of giving through her Angels Foundation.

The family-oriented event, scheduled for Sunday, August 16, at Spanish Town Prison Oval, is aimed at helping some of Jamaica’s most vulnerable children return to school with greater confidence and dignity.

D’Angel, who has been involved in charitable initiatives supporting vulnerable people and children for the past 10 years, said the milestone is particularly meaningful as she prepares to mark the foundation’s 10th anniversary.

“I’ve been doing charity helping the most vulnerable and children for 10 years. This year will actually be my 10th-year anniversary,” she told the Jamaica Observer, noting that the foundation’s beneficiaries span generations, with her eldest beneficiary being 96 years old.

D’Angel said the artistes approached to participate in the concert were enthusiastic about supporting the cause, with several readily agreeing to lend their talents to the initiative.

The entertainment-packed event will feature performances from D’Angel, Marco Dean, Future Fambo, Queen Ifrica, Nesbeth, Jodian Pantry, Tanto Blacks, Ganggoole, Sheenwrks, and Quada. DJ Neako Fire and DJ Shawn 13 are also set to provide music, with the event hosted by Apache Chief and Sarge, while DJ Juzzaz and Rosh Wavy will serve as MCs.

Promoted as a day of family entertainment under the theme ‘Red Light – Yellow Light – Pepper Light’, the event will begin at 10:00 am and continue until 10:00 pm.

Admission is $1,000 for children and $1,500 for adults.

“I would definitely encourage everyone to come out and bring the entire family, because besides the fact that it will be benefiting the children of Jamaica, it will be a fun-filled, packed fun day, and entertainment for the entire family,” shared D’Angel.

She said the assistance is particularly important as the initiative seeks to ensure that vulnerable children are adequately prepared for the new school year.

“I’m welcoming all sponsors at this time, both corporate and otherwise, because this initiative needs all the support we can get to help the most vulnerable children in Jamaica go back to school looking and feeling their best,” she said.
