Armzhouse Records makes its return with Mavado’s Empty Barrel
Since his return to Jamaica a few months ago, music producer Everton “Rado” Minott has made re-establishing his Armzhouse Records label a priority.
The label’s first order of business was releasing the song Empty Barrel by dancehall artiste Mavado.
Released on July 26, the official video for the song has been making waves across social media platforms, racking up more than one million views on YouTube.
The Spanish Town-based label is also working with several emerging acts from the old capital, a move Rado hopes will help inner-city youth realise their full musical potential.
“We also have new music coming with some new artistes like Pelar Excellent and Ice Byrg. We are gearing up to drop some new musical bombs to entertain the fans, so just keep your ears to the ground,” said Rado told the Jamaica Observer.
Additionally, the label which has a history of working with major acts, is set to release new projects by Jah Vinchi, Skippa, RajahWild, Nhance, and Dovey Magnum.
Rado’s affiliation with music began at an early age. He grew up around several sound systems, and he also knew several artistes from the Spanish Town area who would later on make major strides in music.
That passion, saw the formation of Armzhouse Records in 2009.
“My first project was the RR rhythm featuring Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Mr Vegas, Anthony B, Macka Diamond, and many others. Bounty was the first to record for the label with the song titled
Badman in the Building,” Rado recalled.
The producer is pleased with the progress that his label has made over the years and, looking ahead, hopes to bring several new artistes to the fore and release hit projects.
“It’s been an intense but deeply rewarding evolution. We started with just a passion for dancehall, navigated the constant shifts in the music industry, and stayed focused on supporting authentic talent. Looking back, the hurdles only sharpened our direction, and seeing our artistes succeed makes every year worth the grind,” Rado shared.
