Jamaica open CFU U-14 title defence with 4-0 win over St Kitts
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica opened the defence of their Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-14 Boys Tier 1 Challenge Series title with a convincing 4-0 victory over St Kitts & Nevis in their Group C opener in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on Monday.
Tai-Sean Headley scored a second-half double for Jamaica, who were repeating their opening game win from the 2024 tournament, also against St Kitts & Nevis.
The result sent Jamaica to the top of Group C after Aruba and Curaçao played to a 1-1 draw in the other group encounter.
Kylon Gayle opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a brilliant free kick from just a few feet from the left sideline, sailing over the head of goalkeeper Tres Hewlett high into the far corner of the goal.
The Jamaicans maintained their advantage through the remainder of the first half before doubling their lead in the opening minute after the break. Headley fired a low effort under Hewlett at his left post to make it 2-0.
Headley completed his brace from the penalty spot after Makiri D’Aguilar was fouled on the edge of the six-yard box.
Basil Trail, who came off the bench in the second half, scored the fourth goal, netting in the 52nd minute.
