Lincoln Roy scores surprise placement on iTunes Hip Hop and Rap Albums chart

Dancehall and hip-hop fusion artiste Lincoln Roy has surprised pundits by climbing to number five on the United States’ iTunes Hip Hop and Rap chart, above a number of international music stars.

Music insiders are in awe of the achievement especially considering Roy is an independent artiste who is not backed by a multi- billion dollar company.

“Yow this is the proudest moment in my musical journey thus far. I have to say thanks to God, the fans and big respect to my PR Karl Durrant, Cruz and his team who made it happen,” Roy said in a release. “When Durrant called me I had just exited the stage at my show in London and he sent me the chart and I literally had to sit down immediately. A greatness yuh zimmie. Who never know me ago know me now.”

According to Durrant, a notable publicist and marketing consultant, this is a very symbolic placement.

“In my 20 years in music it’s literally one of my proudest moments. This artiste is brand new to the mainstream and for him to chart above so many superstars with an album and not just a single has left me lost for words,” he said. “We used a laptop and our connections to outdo international record labels with big budgets and unlimited resources. I think that is something to celebrate.”

Born Devon Lincoln Roy Jones, the multifaceted entertainer has roots in both Jamaican and Belize but has spent much of his teenage and adult years residing in the United States.

He has been steadily climbing the musical ladder in the underground hip hop, rap and dancehall spaces across the United States and Jamaica, and has had some standout performances at major venues such as SOBs New York, Los Globos in Los Angeles, Constellation Room Santa Ana, CA and Village Underground in London United Kingdom.

According to Lincoln Roy, his musical style is a reflection of his multicultural upbringing.

“LA is the foundation for the hip-hop style of Lincoln Roy and my business etiquette. Belize is the foundation of my parents and culture. Jamaica is the root of my grandfather and my music is an overall reflection of my Caribbean heritage. It’s a melting pot of sounds,” stated Roy.
