ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica—Anward Hinds, otherwise called ‘Kirkie,’ one of Jamaica’s most wanted men was reportedly fatally shot in a confrontation with the police in Westgate Hills, St James on Tuesday evening.

Hinds, of Claremount, New Market in St Elizabeth, Maroon Town and George Reid in Manchester, was being sought by the police in connection to a quadruple murder in Ginger Hill, St Elizabeth in May 2015, which resulted in the deaths of four men—three elderly and one middle-aged.

He was among eight inmates who escaped the Black River Police Station during a routine cell check on June 19, 2023.

Hinds is among three of the escapees killed in confrontations with the police. The other escapees fatally shot by the police are Dean Simpson and Oral Cole. Simpson, a resident of Turner Top in St Elizabeth, was killed by police in November 2023. Cole also killed by cops on April 2, 2026 in south Trelawny.

Another escapee, Alrick Hutchinson, was found dead in September 2023.

Three other escapees were recaptured. They are Richard Brown, Kenneth Stewart and Demar Williams.

The manhunt continues for Jevaughn Simms from Copperwood in St James.
