P’damore champions respect with ‘Look But Don’t Touch’
In the era of #MeToo Movement, the days of inappropriate behaviour, especially toward women, is all but over. In Look But Don’t Touch, P’damore advises men to keep their hands to themselves.
The song, produced by Enos Robinson, was released in July. Based in Toronto, Canada, P’damore says he was inspired to write and record it after a conversation with a friend.
“She opened up to me about the constant unwanted physical advances and boundary crossing she and other women face from men in public spaces. P’damore believes women deserve respect,” the singer stated in an interview with Observer Online.
The term #MeToo can be traced to 2006 when it was coined by Tarana Burke, an American women’s advocate. She became a voice for vulnerable colleagues who were exploited at their workplace by male employers.
The movement gathered momentum in 2017 when several Hollywood actresses reported being sexually exploited by powerhouse producer Harvey Weinstein. He was eventually jailed for multiple cases of sexual abuse.
Look But Don’t Touch was released four months after Take Me There, P’damore’s first EP. That project contains six songs, including the title and Telephone Love.
The veteran artiste, who started his career as Mr Vigorous, says releasing songs regularly is in line with contemporary music trends.
“How music moves so fast these days, if you have the material to deliver, you should.”
