Tasha T’s Ten Foot Wall tops Canadian Reggae chart
CANADIAN-BORN reggae artiste Tasha T, who is of Jamaican parentage, has topped the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart with Ten Foot Wall.
The song, which peaked at #3 on the New York Reggae chart and #2 on the Reggae North Canadian Top 20 Reggae/Dancehall chart, is from her recently released album One World: Chapter 1.
In an interview with the Jamaica Observer, the Afrocentric entertainer shared the inspiration behind Ten Foot Wall.
“The song was written based on seeing people going out of their way to block other people’s path without a reason. It’s a song to uplift, strengthen, and encourage. Also, to remind people that no matter what obstacles they may face the Almighty is always there,” Tasha T explained.
Ten Foot Wall is produced by Paul “Patchy” Wright and Natasha Whyte.
One World: Chapter 1 was released on August 14 and is a joint production between Wrigth and Whyte. It bears the RasVibe Records Inc and Island Yard Productions labels.
Among the tracks on the album are This I Pray, One World, Music is Life, This Reggae Party, Oh Marcus Garvey, Strong Woman, Everlasting Love, and Jah Bless Our Love featuring Glen Washington.
Still on the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart, Set Me Free by Memberz Syndicate moves into the #2 position, while Worldwide (Dubfare) by Lord Fury and Dub Chronicles is #3. Rise Up by Belinda Brady climbs to #4, and Soft Girl Era by Kayla Allen slides down to #5.
JUNO-Award winning reggae artiste Nana McLean (Best Reggae Recording award in 1997) debuts at #9 with Let’s Do it.
Moving over to the Reggae North Canadian Top 20 Reggae/Dancehall chart, Rise Up by Belinda Brady takes over the #1 spot, while Blaze it by I-Noah inches up to #3.
Just Try by Tonya P moves into the #4 spot and Yesterday Once More by Steele steps up to #5.
Butterflies by Buju Banton clocks eight weeks at #1 on the New York Reggae chart, while
One Jamaica by Xaymacans For Jamaica bolts from #10 to #5.
Lift Me Higher by Terry Linen rises from #21 to #17 and Come Feel the Love by Morgan Heritage cruises from #26 to #23.
A cover of the song Perfidia by Chaka Demus and Isha Bell enters at #29, while Carlene Davis steps in at #30 with I’ll Wait For You.
Buju Banton’s Butterflies soars for a 10th week at the top of the South Florida Reggae chart, with Di Real Rock by Macka B moving to #3.
Why Me Lord by Carlene Davis and Ken Boothe bullets from #13 to #10, while Capleton makes his debut at #24 with Get Up and Fight.
Legend by Bob Marley and the Wailers continues its reign at the top of the Billboard Reggae Albums chart clocking 344 non-consecutive weeks.
Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy stays at #2, Dutty Classics Collection by Sean Paul is steady at #3, and Live in St Augustine by Rebelution elevates from #10 to #4, its highest position on the chart to date.
World on Fire by Stick Figure backtracks to #5, Dutty Rock by Sean Paul is #6, while Greatest Hits by UB40 dips to #7.

Bam Bam, credited to producers HUGEL and SOLTO continues its winning ways.
The song remains at #5 on the France Hot 100 chart, while rising from #44 to #38 on Billboard’s Global 200 chart in its 19th week. Over on Global 200 excluding US, the song inches up from #13 to #12.
On Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronics chart, it dances down from #8 to #9 having peaked at #7 under seven months ago. The song remains at #15 on Billboard’s Warm Global Dance Radio chart.
On Billboard’s Latin Airplay, PONGO by producer Rvssian featuring Rauw Alejandro and Wizkid moves up from #47 to #42 in its 13th week on the chart. It got as high as #41. The song fares better on Hot Latin Rhythm Airplay as it steps down from #19 to #24 in its 13th week on the tally.
And on Latin Rhythm Airplay, PONGO improves from #12 to #10. It got as far as #9.
