Nephew favoured in Caymanas 67th Anniversary
A field of 10 runners will face the starter in the $780,000 Caymanas 67th Anniversary Trophy, a Restricted Allowance IV for native-bred three-year-old and upward non-winners of three and imported four-year-olds and upward non-winners of two over 1 mile (1,600m).
The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a look:
1. MODERN MONARCH: (4 b g by Casual Trick – Revolving Beauty) – Winner last time but faces much tougher here. Not expected to repeat.
2. COSALIVIN: (4 ch f by Bold Conquest – Sweetyourock) – Finished 13 lengths third behind Confidence Is High over 7 furlongs (1,400m) on August 6. Stays at the mile and another good effort is expected.

3. JOYFULL SURPRISE: (4 b f by Conquest Cherimash – Michelka) – Cannot win this.
4. MR LEE: (4 gr c by Spieth – Kippling Weekend) –Finished a strong 6-length second to Confidence Is High at 7 furlongs. Should also go well at this extended trip and is expected to run well again.
5. NEBUCHADNEZZAR: (4 ch c by Soul Warrior – Queen of Bagdad) – Not doing badly but faces an uphill task against this lot.
6. PRINCESS KRIS (USA): (4 b f by Goldencents – Sugar Babe) – Beaten out of sight last time, finishing 21 lengths seventh behind Confidence Is High. Expected to run a much improved race, but still has plenty to find.

7. KUSMI: (4 b f by Sensational Slam – Cup O Tea) – Going to be left behind.
8. HE’S SENSATIONAL: (4 ch c by Sensational Slam – Sheer Madness) – Won going 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m) on August 6. That was a weaker race. Cannot repeat here.
9. D’STORM: (4 b f by Wannabeaplayer – Storming Flyer) – No chance.
10. NEPHEW (USA): (4 b c by Uncle Vinny – Boca Bloom) – The one they all have to beat. Consistent sort who finished 15 lengths third behind McMullen and
Lauren’s Secret over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m) on August 6. Nephew steps up to a mile where he should enjoy a more relaxed pace. Faces an easier task here and is expected to turn this into a one-sided affair. Hard to deny.
