‘New season, new trim’: Man City star Haaland chops off flowing locks

MANCHESTER, United Kingdom (AFP) — Erling Haaland unveiled a new haircut for Manchester City’s Premier League opener as the Norway star chopped off his iconic flowing blond locks.

Haaland unveiled his fresh close-cropped look on his social media accounts on Sunday, along with the comment: “New season, new trim”.

The 26-year-old posted another image on X showing the various stages of his haircut, which he captioned “Short hair don’t care”.

And just hours later, Haaland walked onto the Etihad Stadium pitch to warm-up with his new look ahead of City’s first game of their top-flight campaign against Bournemouth.

During an interview with James Corden on Fox Sports in July, Haaland revealed he had maintained his previous style on the advice of retired Sweden star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, another prolific long-haired Scandinavian striker.

“Zlatan – you know what he told me? ‘Never cut your hair because the strength is in the hair’,” Haaland told Cordon.

City fans will hope Haaland remains as prolific as ever for Enzo Maresca’s side despite getting rid of his famous hair cut.

Haaland’s team are playing without boss Pep Guardiola this season after the Spaniard ended his 10-year reign at the end of last season.
