One dead, children hospitalised after St Mary crash
ST MARY, Jamaica— A Sunday evening drive along the Tower Isle main road ended in tragedy when a head-on collision claimed the life of a 30-year-old man and left two young children among those hospitalised.
According to police reports, around 7:00pm on Sunday, a Honda CRV that was travelling from Port Maria towards Ocho Rios reportedly collided with a Toyota Succeed which was travelling in the opposite direction near Columbus Avenue.
The impact was severe.
The Port Maria fire department had to cut the driver of the Toyota Succeed from the wreckage.
He was rushed to the Port Maria hospital where he was pronounced dead. The two children inside the vehicle were injured and were also taken to the hospital.
The driver of the CRV and his female passenger sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
The St Mary police are investigating to determine what caused the collision.
The fatality brings the number of road deaths in the parish to 12 since the start of the year. This is a 43 per cent reduction compared to last year.
