Skippa, Jahvillani and YGF Records set to drop ‘False Teeth’ collaboration
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Dancehall artistes Skippa and Jahvillani are set to release their new collaboration, “False Teeth”, on August 28.
The track is produced by chart-topping producer Tevino Richards of YGF Records and was created spontaneously during a listening session, according to Richards.
“Both artistes were in the studio listening to a selection of riddims when this particular production caught their attention. They immediately started vibing to it, exchanging ideas and building off each other’s energy,” stated Richards.
The collaboration forms part of the EP “YGF Turns 10”, which commemorates the record label’s 10th anniversary.
Richards said the collaboration was particularly meaningful because both artistes are from St Ann and that he wanted the track to represent unity.
“This collaboration features two artistes who are thriving musically. It carries special meaning for me and for YGF Records. Both artistes are from St Ann, Jamaica, and as the producer, I wanted to use this record to represent something bigger than just music [unity],” he said.
“Both artistes have built their own fan bases and created their own paths, but this collaboration is an opportunity to bring those supporters together and celebrate the talent coming out of St Ann,” Richards added.
Skippa, at present is arguably one of the hottest stars in dancehall, boasting a plethora of hits.
Jahvillani rose to prominence in 2019 following the release of his breakthrough single entitled “Wileside Government” and has since steady churned hits.
According to publicist Karl Durrant who represents YGF Records, this single has the potential to become a mainstream hit.
“Skippa, Jahvillani and YGF on one track equals to a banger. The fans will definitely enjoy this one. YGF Records has a history of creating hits and fostering unity within dancehall and reggae” stated Durrant.
