‘Whisper’ Richards joins Wimbledon on loan
Jamaican footballer Dujuan “Whisper” Richards has completed a season-long loan move from English Premier League club Chelsea FC to third tier team AFC Wimbledon, the teams announced Tuesday.
The 20-year-old Richards has been at Chelsea since 2024 but has been unable to break into the star-studded senior team.
“We’re really excited for Dujuan to join the squad, he’s a quality player with exciting attributes. He’s a really talented player that will get the fans off their seats and we’re pleased he’s joined the club,” said Craig Cope, Director of Football at AFC Wimbledon, which finished 19th in League One last season.
The talented Richards was signed by Chelsea straight out high school in Jamaica following an outstanding season for Kingston College, where he scored over 30 goals.
After a flying start with the under-21 team at Chelsea, Richard’s development was impacted by a major knee injury which required surgery.
He spent last season attempting to get his development back on track, but a loan move to Championship club Leicester City saw him making just a few cameo appearances for The Foxes.
