FRESH from big opening day wins on Saturday, Brown’s Town High and Marcus Garvey Technical are to clash in the ISSA daCosta Cup at York Castle High in Alexandria, St Ann, this afternoon.

The two Zone C teams combined for 30 goals in lopsided triumphs over newcomers Walkerswood Academy and Discovery Bay High, respectively, and will be among nine schools seeking back-to-back victories to kick off the season.

Brown’s Town got off to a big start, thrashing 10-man Walkerswood 20-0. They will be seeking to extend their unbeaten run against Marcus Garvey Technical dating back to the 2018 season.

Eleven players scored for Brown’s Town on Saturday, with Jamaal Johnson leading with four goals and Javier Henry adding three.

Marcus Garvey are coming off a 10-1 win over Discovery Bay and will be hoping to finally get the better of Brown’s Town and secure the lead in the zone.

Three games will feature teams that won on Saturday, including former Ben Francis Cup champions BB Coke and Lewisville High who were winners in Zone D. Bellefield High and Mile Gully in Zone E will also put their winning records on the line.

BB Coke and Lewisville are separated by goal difference and will renew rivalries after they played out a 1-1 result last season.

BB Coke lead with a plus-four differential after blanking deCarteret College 4-0, while Lewisville defeated Mount St Joseph Catholic 2-0.

Bellefield High and Mile Gully High each won one game last season. They will be familiar with each other, having faced off in the same zone several times over the years.

Other teams seeking consecutive wins are former champions Herbert Morrison, Ferncourt High and Winston Jones High.

Herbert Morrison are set to face Spot Valley High after blanking Muschett High 3-0 on Saturday.

Spot Valley High were held 2-2 at home by Cambridge High and will be hunting their first win of the season.

In the other Zone A game, former champions St James High are to open their account against Muschett at Jarrett Park.

Ferncourt High will be licking their lips in anticipation of feasting on Walkerswood Academy when they meet at Drax Hall. Ferncourt opened their season with a win over Cedric Titus High.
