When Michael Paul and Mercedes Boyd first linked up on Instagram in 2021, romance was not immediately on the cards; their initial chats were simply easygoing catch-ups about work, school and life.

A brief hiatus followed when Michael deactivated his account in 2024. When he reactivated it in June 2025, the pair reconnected effortlessly. Fondness quickly blossomed into something more once they decided to meet up. Several dates later, Michael knew that he had met someone special.

“We realised there was a mutual attraction after having various conversations and realising that we felt right for each other. We had fun together and we realised that our mindset was similar and our connection felt pure and easy,” Michael said. “As we kept going out, I just knew I wanted us to take things to the next level.”

By August 2025, they had made things official. Naturally, their journey together was not without a few rough patches along the way. When a rocky period led Mercedes to call time on their romance, Michael was deeply remorseful — convincing her to give their love a second chance.

“I wasn’t pleased with something he did and decided to take a step back from dating, but he broke down in tears, pleading with me not to give up on us,” Mercedes told Tuesday Style Vows.

Knowing what they had was special, they gave their love another chance, which culminated on April 25, 2026, when Michael proposed to Mercedes during a birthday getaway in Colombia.

Three months later, Michael and Mercedes exchanged vows at Duhaney Park New Testament Church of God. Foregoing a reception, the couple chose an intimate, meaningful ceremony to celebrate their union. Decorated by the bridal party and close friends, the venue was transformed into a simple yet elegant setting.

For her special day, Mercedes chose a cowl-neck A-line dress in ivory satin complete with high slit and train, while Michael stepped out in a sharp three-piece suit. Arm-in-arm with her grand-uncle Noel Mullings, Mercedes walked up the aisle to Damien Escobar’s violin rendition of the Alicia Keys hit Un-Thinkable (I’m Ready).

With Kemar Campbell officiating the ceremony, the couple pledged their lives to each other — stepping boldly into their new chapter.

They later escaped to Ocean Eden Bay in Trelawny for their honeymoon.
