WATCH: Morgan praises work on Church Lane Boulevard in Norwood

ST JAMES, Jamaica — Minister with responsibility for works in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Infrastructure Development (MEGID), Robert Morgan, has lavished praise on one of the Shared Prosperity through Accelerated Improvement to our Road Network (SPARK) projects in Montego, hailing the Church Lane Boulevard in Norwood as having the standard for the works required.

Morgan was on a tour of several SPARK roads in the parish when he made the observation.

“This is the standard; we have the proper curb walls, we have the proper drains and the quality of the asphalt,” he told reporters on the tour.

The road done by China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), the primary contractor for the $45 billion project that is set to rehabilitate hundreds of community and main roads across Jamaica.

Church Lane Boulevard is one of the roads being done in the constituency of St James North West and has a cost of approximately $57 million. That scope of work is currently 79 per cent complete.

Several other roads were examined, including Codac Drive and Leggs Lane in Flanker, Barbados Avenue and Caribbean Terrace in Cornwall Courts and Jarrett Terrace in downtown Montego Bay.

The minister also highlighted the fact that there were some flaws identified, but those would be corrected under the programme.

“We have identified some flaws, but those will be corrected because we have a one-year warranty,” he said.
