KINGSTON, Jamaica — An alleged lottery scammer was shot dead and a firearm seized during a police operation on Oliver Road in Rockfort, Kingston 2, Thursday morning.

The man, who police believe to be 30-year-old Faldan Campbell, otherwise called “Chaps”, was said to be a high-risk target and a high-ranking member of the Rollington Town gang.

Reports reaching Observer Online indicate that around 5:25 am, police, armed with a search warrant, conducted an intelligence-led operation in the community.

Upon breaching and entering a residence, the lawmen were confronted by a man who reportedly opened fire at them.

The police, in defence of their lives, returned fire, during which the alleged gunman was shot and injured. The firearm was retrieved and found to be a .357 Magnum revolver containing five live rounds.

The now-deceased was assisted to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH), where doctors pronounced him dead.

During a further search of the property, police said nine lead sheets bearing information on hundreds of American nationals were found hidden at the rear of the house.

Police revealed that Campbell was also a person of interest in the murder of Kevin Johnson, which was committed on June 24, 2025, in Rollington Town. He was also labelled as one of the main instigators of violence in the community and its environs.

Campbell was deported from the United States on Thursday, October 16, 2025, for illegal entry.
