KFTL denies report of probe at facility, cites routine security operation
KINGSTON, Jamaica—The Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL) is dismissing reports of a probe by local authorities and international partners at its terminal on Friday.
KFTL, in a press release on Friday, said a scheduled operation was conducted by the Newport West Police Division at the terminal’s entrance on Friday and was undertaken under established security arrangements at the port and taking place on a biweekly basis as part of law enforcement’s ordinary public safety duties.
“It was consistent with that regular schedule and did not involve any unusual incident, security threat, or emergency situation. We also wish to clarify that today’s presence involved the division only, with no involvement from any international law enforcement agency, and was in no way connected to any previous law enforcement activity at the terminal,” it noted.
KFTL said the terminal continues to operate normally, with no disruption to services.
It said it remains committed to providing timely and accurate information to its stakeholders and the wider public.
