Bryan Levell and Ashanti Moore into 200m final at Ultimate Champs
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Bryan Levell and Ashanti Moore have qualified for the finals of the men’s and women’s 200m respectively on Sunday’s third and final day of the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championships at the National Athletics Center in Budapest, Hungary.
Levell ran 20.08 seconds (-0.2m/s) for third in his semi-final while national champion Christopher Taylor was sixth with 20.36 seconds.
South Africa’s Sinesipho Dambile won the semi-final in 19.80 seconds with Andre De Grasse of Canada second with 19.87 seconds.
His teammate Aaron Brown also qualified with 20.08 seconds.
Moore ran a personal best 22.30 seconds to finish second in her semi-final, shaving one-hundredth of a second off her previous best of 22.31 seconds set at the same venue a year ago.
Great Britain’s Amy Hunt won the semi-final with 22.22 seconds; Cambrea Sturgis of the USA was next with 22.40 seconds, with another American Anavia Battle also advancing with 22.46 seconds.
Olympic Games champion Shaunae Miller Uibo of the Bahamas had originally finished third but was disqualified for a lane violation. Lavanya Williams, a finalist in the women’s 100m, placed sixth in her 200m semi-final in 23.10 seconds.
