Munro, Black River extend perfect daCosta run this season

Munro College and Black River extended their perfect winning records in Zone D of the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition to four straight matches following wins over BB Coke High and Mount St Joseph Catholic High, respectively, on Wednesday.

Munro College maintained the lead on goal difference, while Black River moved past BB Coke High into second place to take control of the group as the competition takes a break for the first round of the Ben Francis Cup on Friday and Saturday.

The St Elizabeth-based schools joined Yallahs High, who earned their fourth win on Tuesday by beating Fair Prospect High 2-1.

At Munro on Wednesday, Izion Frazer scored his sixth goal of the season and Kajay Williams added another as Munro College beat BB Coke High 2-0, avenging last season’s loss to the 2019 Ben Francis Cup champions.

Kamorny Thompson scored a double after Tedraun Clarke opened the scoring for Black River in their 3-0 victory over Mt St Joseph. Meanwhile, Lacovia High also defeated Belair High 3-0 to surpass BB Coke on goal difference for third place.

In Zone I, St Mary High and Titchfield High both secured their third straight wins in contrasting styles. St Mary High battered Iona High 8-0 to hold onto top spot on goal difference. Oraldo Robinson and Kahleem Rose each scored doubles, while Jevan-tae Allen, Rojay Hines, Tyrique Barnes, and Kawayne Ormsby added a goal apiece.

Titchfield High did not have to kick a ball after Wycliffe Martin High failed to turn up for their fixture.

Elsewhere, Central High’s perfect record came to an end in Zone G after being held to a 1-1 draw by Charlemont High. Denbigh High subsequently took over the Zone G lead on goal difference following an 8-1 thrashing of Tacius Golding High. Lennon High also picked up their first win of the season in style, routing Kellits High 15-1.
