MONTEGO BAY, St James — A police stop in July this year resulted in the arrest and charge of Kevon Whitehead after he was allegedly found in possession of a Sutton Bank debit card bearing the name of a woman.

Whitehead appeared before Judge Natiesha Fairclough-Hylton in the St James Parish Court on Wednesday, where the circumstances surrounding his possession of the card were outlined.

The court heard that about 12:45 pm on July 27, Whitehead was stopped by the police and searched and the debit card found.

Whitehead was questioned by the police about the card and, according to the allegations presented in court, responded, “Beg yuh a chance officer.”

The court was further told that Whitehead was unable to provide an explanation for why he had the debit card in his possession. He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of an access device.

The matter did not end with his arrest, however, as Whitehead was also questioned under caution. During that process, he reportedly appealed to the officer, saying, “Beg yuh a chance bossy. Mi a nuh killer. Mi just a try a thing.”

The clerk then told the judge that the arresting officer’s statement was still outstanding, and the judge set the matter for mention on November 17, while Whitehead was bound over.
