The highly rated Gallant Groom returns to take on five rivals in tomorrow’s running of the $1.19-million Ronron Trophy over 6 furlongs (1,200m) at Caymanas Park.

The race is a Restricted Stakes contest for imported three-year-olds and upward (non-winners of three) and native-bred three-year-olds and native-bred four-year-olds (non-winners of four).

Below is an analysis of the runners.

1. BIGGER BOSS: (3 b c Bern Identity – Woman Is Boss) — Showed some sign of form when finishing third by 2 lengths behind Victorious Links and Giving Thanks at 7 furlongs (1,400m) on September 19. That was a step in the right direction after a string of poor runs. He likes to be close to the pace, and over 6 furlongs he will be there early. In this small field, Bigger Boss could find himself into the running for second place, but winning will be very tough.

2. GALLANT GROOM (USA): (4 dk b/br c Golden Lad – D’D Renegade) – The highly rated one. Gallant Groom won at the second time of asking going 6 ½ furlongs by 16 lengths on August 29. He stopped the clock in 1:19.1 that day. Since then he has been working really good coming into this and the reports are glowing. With nothing really outstanding in the line-up, this should be another walk in the park. The class of the field by a mile.

3. EYE OF THE TIGER: (3 b c Aveenu Malcainu – Full Moon’s Enough) — Cannot be recommended for a winning run.

4. HAZELNUT: (4 ch f Soul Warrior – Money Magnet) – A winner on last who is going to find repeating an impossible task up in class against the American. She will show early speed and then tire.

5. MIDNIGHT TRAVELLER: (3 ch f Aveenu Malcainu – Esperanza) – Finished in third place in her last two runs. She is on the upgrade, lightly raced, and is expected to run well enough for second or third. The exacta horse to go with Gallant Groom.

6. FIDELITY (3 b c Bern Identity – Hush My Darling) – Can safely be bypassed here.
