KINGSTON, Jamaica — Kingston College (KC) has launched an investigation after a video surfaced online showing a student being held by colleagues over a railing before falling.

In an official statement dated September 23, Principal Dave Myrie said the school’s administration and Board of Management are aware of the matter and are conducting a “thorough investigation” into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Myrie said, however, that no student was injured.

“The School Administration and the Board of Management are aware of the matter and are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” Myrie said in the statement.

He assured parents, guardians, students and members of the wider KC community that the matter was being taken seriously and would be addressed in accordance with the school’s established policies and procedures.

The principal also reiterated the school’s commitment to maintaining what he described as a safe, disciplined and supportive environment for its students.

KC has also appealed to members of the school community to refrain from sharing or reposting the video.
According to Myrie, further circulation could unnecessarily compromise the privacy, dignity and welfare of the young students involved.

“Any further information considered appropriate will be communicated through the School’s official channels,” the statement said.

Myrie has served as principal of Kingston College since 2012.
