NEW JERSEY, United States — Sean “Diddy” Combs’ reported experience behind bars has sparked attention after NBC News detailed claims that the music mogul has maintained a level of comfort and privilege while serving his sentence at a low-security federal prison in New Jersey.

According to NBC News, inmates who spent time in the same unit as Combs at Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix said his reported lifestyle included specially prepared meals, personal services and access to items not typically associated with prison life.

Among the food reportedly prepared for Combs were curry chicken, pizza and empanadas. The report said some meals were made using improvised cooking methods inside the facility, with inmates preparing food for him and others.

One inmate told NBC News that after cooking for Combs for a while, he got tired, and the entertainer turned to Jamaican inmates for meals.

“After a while, I got tired of cooking,” he said. “He started going to the Jamaicans.”

NBC News reported that Combs’ alleged arrangements extended beyond food. Sources said some inmates performed personal tasks for him, including cleaning areas before he used them, handling laundry and providing other services, with payments allegedly made through prison commissary accounts.

The report also claimed that Combs had access to contraband items, including mobile phones and alcohol, through illegal prison networks. One inmate told NBC News that he drank Hennessy with Combs during gatherings inside the facility.

The United States Bureau of Prisons declined to comment specifically on Combs’ situation, citing privacy and security concerns, but said contraband such as cellphones, narcotics and weapons remains an ongoing challenge within correctional facilities.

A spokesperson for Combs also rejected the portrayal of his prison life, saying that intense media attention on everyday details of his incarceration had turned routine matters into news.

Combs, 56, is serving a 50-month sentence following his conviction on prostitution-related offences. His legal team continues to pursue an appeal.
