JN Bank, Flash Motors partner on EV financing amid rising fuel costs
Phillip Oliver, brand and sales manager at Flash Motors, speaks about the Geely EX2, one of the electric vehicles the company distributes, during a special activation held recently at the JN Bank Barbican parking lot in St Andrew. Throughout the day, customers got the opportunity to look at EVs from Flash Motors and learn more about the financing options available through JN Bank.

JN Bank, Flash Motors partner on EV financing amid rising fuel costs

JN Bank and electric vehicle (EV) dealer Flash Motors have joined forces to make EV financing more accessible to local consumers as the push for cleaner transportation intensifies and motorists seek ways to reduce fuel and other vehicle ownership costs.

The partnership comes as Jamaica seeks to accelerate its adoption of cleaner energy and modern transportation technologies and also as recent increases in fuel prices linked to continued tensions in the Gulf have added to cost pressures facing motorists.

Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU), the two entities have moved to streamline financing for customers purchasing EVs, bringing loan support earlier into the vehicle-buying process while giving prospective EV owners faster access to credit decisions.

“As renewable energy and cleaner transportation become increasingly important, we believe this partnership can give customers of both organisations more options as they consider their vehicle and financing needs, while we, in turn, support the growth of this segment of the automotive market,” Ricardo Williams, chief product officer for unsecured loans, auto loans and credit cards at JN Bank, said.

Williams said the partnership is also intended to make it easier for customers to consider financing alongside the cost and other requirements associated with EV ownership.

“For prospective vehicle owners, financing, operating costs, and access to after-sales support all form part of the ownership journey. This partnership is focused on connecting those elements, giving customers an opportunity to consider the vehicle and financing requirements together rather than as separate steps,” he said.

Under the arrangement, Flash Motors customers can be connected directly with JN Bank’s auto-loan team, with preliminary loan feedback expected within approximately one business day and a final decision within three business days once complete documentation is received.

Eligible customers may also access JN Bank’s special auto-loan interest rate of 7.99 per cent, subject to the bank’s credit assessment, eligibility requirements and applicable terms and conditions. The partnership brings together JN Bank’s vehicle-financing capabilities with Flash Motors’ expertise in EVs, charging infrastructure and after-sales support.

Xavier Gordon, CEO of Flash Motors, said access to financing should not become an additional barrier for consumers considering the switch to electric mobility.

“Electric vehicles should not be harder to finance simply because the technology is new,” Gordon said. “Customers need reliable vehicles, clear financing options, and confidence that they will be supported after delivery.”

He said the partnership, therefore, aims to give consumers greater confidence as they assess the transition from conventional vehicles to electric alternatives.

“Together with JN Bank, we can make the move to electric transportation more straightforward and practical for more people,” Gordon added.

Flash Motors as a distributor of electric and plug-in passenger and commercial vehicles, including models from Geely and Farizon, also provides charging infrastructure, after-sales support, and energy-management solutions for individuals and businesses transitioning to electric mobility.

By combining vehicle sales with financing support, the companies are seeking to simplify the upfront purchase process for consumers interested in making the switch to electric transportation.

Customers interested in the JN Bank financing pathway can begin the process through the Flash Motors sales team, which will connect them directly with designated JN Bank representatives.

“All loan approvals, interest rates, and financing terms remain subject to JN Bank’s credit assessment and documentation requirements,” a news release said.
