Sam Fo Meats launches mobile app to serve four parishes

CHRISTIANA, Manchester — Restaurants, supermarkets and residents in parts of Manchester, Clarendon, St Ann, and Trelawny are set to benefit from the services of the Sam Fo Meats mobile app and delivery service.

Chairman of Sam Fo Meats and renowned south-central Jamaica businessman Paul Lyn told the
Jamaica Observer on Thursday that the Christiana-based business has embarked on a delivery service catering to customers in a 15-mile radius, reaching the towns of Mandeville, Christiana, Spalding, Frankfield, Cave Valley, and Albert Town.

“Customers using the mobile app can now do pick-ups, make orders, and have the items delivered to them just like Uber in the United States. You can track the ride. We can go up to 15 miles and it will be the same cost as taxi fare, so if you were to pay $100 to come to Christiana that will be your delivery cost,” he said on the sideline of the mobile app launch on Thursday.

“The app will cater to residential and commercial customers including cookshop operators, supermarkets, wholesales, everyone,” he added.

Sam Fo Meats, which was opened on June 10, 2022 on Wildman Street in Christiana, has 49 staff.

“Wildman Street has congestion, because of its condition and the market, so a lot of persons who want to access our products do not do so, because of the inconvenience, so the app is a response to that. We will come to you rather than you coming to us,” said Lyn.

Business leaders, political and civic leaders have commended Lyn’s initiative of launching the mobile app.

Mayor of Mandeville Donovan Mitchell said he has seen a rapid increase in commerce in Christiana and development of new businesses.

“Christiana is doing well, you have just opened a new tax office. I see some buildings going up with new supermarkets, etc, it therefore means that Christiana is doing well and I want to thank the businesses and I want to thank the customers,” he said.

“Today [Thursday] is not just simply about launching an app, it is about a local business embracing innovation, responding to the changing needs of its customers, and positioning itself for the future. We live in an age where technology has transformed how we communicate, conduct business and increasingly, how we shop,” he added.

Custos of Manchester Garfield Green welcomed news of the launch of the mobile app.

“Sam Fo Meats has earned the trust of this community by providing quality products — but not only that, reliable service and a commitment to meeting customers’ needs with consistency and care. I can speak with confidence as my wife is a customer here,” said Green.

“Sometimes when we drive past here the crowd that we see, be it early morning or late afternoon, speaks to the service and products that they get here. Modern technology will give customers a faster and more convenient way to shop,” added Green.
