SIA to add Mexico City as 5th major Latin American destination
SANGSTER International Airport (SIA) is set to add another major Latin American destination to its route network in March 2027 when Aeromexico begins Jamaica’s first scheduled non-stop service between Mexico City, Mexico and Montego Bay on March 18.
Subject to Government approvals, Mexico City will become the fifth major Latin American city with non-stop service to Montego Bay, extending SIA’s reach into Spanish-speaking markets across the region.
“Mexico City gives Montego Bay a direct connection into Mexico’s capital and, through Aeromexico’s hub, to destinations across the country,” said Shane Munroe, chief executive officer of MBJ Airports Limited, operator of SIA. “Together with non-stop service from Lima, Bogota, Medellin, and Panama City, this new route strengthens Montego Bay’s connectivity with key Latin American markets as we continue to diversify SIA’s route network. This will also create new options for business and leisure travel.”

This new route will give our passengers direct access to an extraordinary blend of tourism, gastronomy and cultural experiences, while we strengthen our connectivity from Mexico City.”
The service will operate three times weekly on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with 166 seats, personal entertainment screens and bar and snack service. Flights will depart Mexico City at 9:20 a.m. and arrive in Montego Bay at 2:00 p.m., with the return leaving at 3:15 pm and landing in Mexico City at 6:20 pm. The schedule is designed to support same-day connections to Aeromexico’s domestic network of more than 40 destinations. Tickets are on sale through Aeromexico’s sales channels.
The route builds on SIA’s expanding links with Latin America. LATAM Airlines Peru resumed non-stop service between Lima and Montego Bay in December 2024, connecting Jamaica with Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay through its network. Copa Airlines serves Montego Bay year-round from its Panama City hub while Wingo Airlines operates non-stop service from Bogota and Medellin, Colombia.
