Derrick Scott celebrates delivering power of God
While living in the Cayman Islands over 20 years ago, Derrick Scott had an epiphany. It was a calling to give his life to the Lord and he readily accepted.
Scott, a gospel singer based in South Florida, says there is a reward for belief in God. That is the message behind Deliver Me, his latest song.
He produced the single for his DScott Music label.
“What I want people to take away is that God is a faithful God and He never forgets His promise. The message is that God is a deliverer,” said Scott.
To help get that message across, Scott commissioned an AI-generated video produced by Richie B Radio Production Services. It contains depictions of people seeking solace in places of worship as they go through challenging times.
From Linstead, St Catherine, Scott followed the path of his older brother Freddie McKay into the music business. McKay, who died in 1986, is best known for hit songs like Picture on The Wall and Dance This yah Festival. The latter won the 1976 Festival Song Competition.
Scott started his music career during the early 1980s as a deejay in Spanish Town, rubbing shoulders at dances with other aspirants like Lieutenant Stitchie and Major Worries.
But then God stepped in.
“I have been a different person since my conversion. A lot of things I used to do, I don’t have the desire to do them anymore and it doesn’t bother me,” said Scott, who has released four albums to date.
