Money Market the one to beat in Nigel B Nunes Memorial Cup feature race

The $1.25-million Nigel B Nunes Memorial Cup takes centre stage on tomorrow’s 9-race programme at Caymanas Park.

A capacity field of 16 will face the starter in this Overnight Allowance event for three-year-olds and upward over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight.

Below, the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide examines the runners:

1. LOCKDOWN: (4 ch c by Strikewhileitshot – Aria) – Inside draw no help. Will be outpaced early and left behind.

2. HAIL THE QUEEN: (5 ch m by Hedge Fund – Seguro Oro) – Two upset wins on the trot, but this is a steep rise. Hard to see the hat-trick from Hail The Queen here.

3. TEFLON DON: (5 b h by Casual Trick – The Lady Scored) – Form figures make no appeal, but big improvement at exercise. Teflon Don could outrun his odds for a minor share.

4. WICKEDE CASSIE (USA): (5 dk b/br m by Wicked Song – Clever Cassie)

– Outclassed on form. Even at her best, she cannot win this.

5. COMMANDER Z (USA): (5 ch h by Khozan – Wontoo) – Creditable fourth, 7½ lengths behind Pepper Stepper and Of A Revolution over this course Sept 12. That is the key form line — big player.

6. MONEY MARKET: (6 b h by Successful Native – Scoca Dancer) – The one to beat. Off since May 2 (161 days) when fourth to Legacy Isle over this trip. Looks razor-sharp in the mornings and faces nothing of Legacy Isle’s quality here. Ready to win on return.

7. JOHNCROWJEFF: ( 8 bgby Natural Selection – Sweetyourock) – Veteran who can be safely bypassed.

8. MISS MONEYPENNY: (4 ch f by Bern Identity Pomeroy’s Secret) – Best form gives her only a squeak for the minors.

9.STARRAURA: (4 ch f by Bold Conquest – Little Wasp) – Consistent enough for a minor placing, not for winning.

10. HONOUR PRINCE: (4 b c by Bern Identity Awesome Lucy) – Lightly raced — only three starts this season suggesting issues. Could sneak into the superfecta.

11. FORMALIST: (4 ch c by Bold Conquest – Miss Formality) – Specialist over the straight — three of his four wins here, two at 5 furlongs, one at 4. Will run well but may find one or two too good.

12. DANKA: (4 ch f by Aveenu Malcainu – Baby P) Not a major factor on current form.

13. GET A PEPSI: (7 ch h by Blue Pepsi Lodge Getupstandup) – Hard to recommend.14.

14.PRINCESS FIANIE: (5 b m Soul Warrior – Ship Sham)

– No chance on form.

15. MACK AND ROME: (5 b h by Bold Conquest Gold Miner) – Could be a danger. Won over this course and distance February 7 in a slick 57.4. Loves the straight and cannot be ignored from a wide draw.

16. BULLETPROOFCOFFEE (USA): (6 b m by He Be Fire N Ice – Plan A Surprise) Best drawn on paper, but that alone won’t get it done.
