Struggling giants collide as Premier League returns

United host bottom-placed Spurs at Old Trafford, Liverpool welcome perfect City to Anfield

TWO struggling giants clash at Old Trafford on Saturday when Manchester United host Tottenham, before the Premier League delivers a blockbuster showdown on Sunday when Liverpool welcome Manchester City to Anfield.

Event #1 – English Premier League- Manchester United vs Tottenham- Saturday – 11:30 AM

A tense atmosphere is expected at Old Trafford when Manchester United take on Tottenham, as the Premier League resumes following the international break.

For Manchester United, the three-week pause may have come at the perfect time. After a disappointing start to the campaign, pressure has been mounting on both the manager and the squad. Fortunately for United, much of the football world’s attention has recently been diverted elsewhere, with Manchester City’s ongoing off-field issues dominating the headlines.

United desperately need a convincing performance after collecting just five points from their opening five league matches. Their only victory remains an emphatic 5-2 win over Ipswich, but they have struggled to build on that result. A draw at Everton was followed by a derby defeat to Manchester City, while a late equaliser was required to rescue a point against Fulham before the break.

Tottenham’s situation is arguably even worse.

Roberto De Zerbi successfully guided Spurs to Premier League survival on the final day of last season, but the North London club find themselves back in familiar territory. After five matches, Tottenham sit rock bottom of the table, still searching for their first league victory and having failed to score a single away goal all season.

Their struggles have been evident at both ends of the pitch. Spurs have won just two of their last ten matches in all competitions and headed into the break on the back of consecutive defeats. Unless there is a dramatic improvement, the pressure on De Zerbi will continue to intensify.

Key Stats

•Manchester United has collected just five points from their opening five league matches.

•Tottenham is still searching for their first Premier League win of the season.

•Manchester United has conceded in every league match so far this campaign.

•United’s victory over Spurs in February ended a seven-match winless run in this fixture.

•Manchester United has won only two of their last seven matches in all competitions.

•Tottenham has failed to score in four of their five league matches this season.

Betting Tips

•Primary Pick: Manchester United to Win

•Alternative: Manchester United win or Draw & Under 3.5 Goals

•Value Bet: Tottenham Under 0.5 Team Goals

Event #2 – English Premier League–Liverpool vs Manchester City – Sunday – 10:30 AM

One of the most anticipated fixtures in world football takes centre stage on Sunday as Liverpool welcome Manchester City to Anfield in a match loaded with significance both on and off the pitch.

New Liverpool Manager Andoni Iraola has enjoyed an impressive start to life at Anfield, guiding the Reds through a seven-match unbeaten run across all competitions. While Liverpool have occasionally been frustrated by draws against opponents they would have expected to beat, they remain one of only a handful of unbeaten sides in the league.

The Reds entered the international break in excellent spirits after defeating Tottenham 3-1 in the EFL Cup, before securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory away to Bournemouth, a club formerly managed by Iraola. Manchester City, meanwhile, arrive at Anfield amid one of the most turbulent periods in the club’s history. The Premier League recently confirmed that an independent commission had found City guilty on the vast majority of charges brought against them, a ruling that could have far-reaching consequences for English football.

Despite the off-field distractions, City’s performances on the pitch have remained exceptional. After suffering a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield, Man City responded by winning seven consecutive matches, including all five of their Premier League fixtures.

History also adds another fascinating layer to this contest. Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola could become just the third Liverpool manager to avoid defeat in each of his first six top-flight league matches in charge, joining club legends Bob Paisley and Joe Fagan.

However, Manchester City has enjoyed recent success at Anfield, winning two of their last three league visits and claiming the last three meetings between the sides by a combined score of 9-2.

Key Stats

•Liverpool has drawn each of their last four Premier League home matches.

•Manchester City is unbeaten in their last 10 away Premier League matches.

•Liverpool has conceded only four goals in five league matches this season.

•Manchester City has scored in 21 consecutive Premier League matches.

•Liverpool enter this match with four wins and one draw from their last five matches in all competitions.

•Manchester City has won the last three meetings between the clubs by an aggregate score of 9-2.

Betting Tips

•Primary Pick: Both Teams to Score

•Alternative: Manchester City Draw No Bet

•Value Bet: Over 2.5 Goals
