Celebrity chef Haleem Card to cater Greatness Pink & White Brunch

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Celebrity chef Haleem Card is bringing his talent from the international screen to the brunch table as he prepares to cater the Greatness Pink & White Brunch on Monday, October 19 at Devon House’s East Lawn in Kingston.

Card, who represented Jamaica and finished second on the Amazon Prime culinary competition, The World Cook, will be a featured attraction at the event. His participation offers patrons an opportunity to experience the cooking of a Jamaican chef whose skills earned recognition on an international stage.

“Representing Jamaica on an international stage was a proud moment for me, and I’m excited to bring that same passion to the brunch. I want guests to enjoy the food, connect and leave with something worth talking about. I’m looking forward to giving them a taste of greatness,” said Card.

As part of Greatness Weekend, which runs from October 16–19, the brunch pairs its signature theme with a culinary experience featuring Card. While guests arrive in their elegant outfits, the celebrity chef will be preparing to make food a central part of the occasion.

Behind his television recognition is a career built from an early age. A Wolmer’s Boys’ School alumnus, Card began apprenticing with Jamaican chef Jacqui Tyson at 13. In 2015, he received the Jamaica Observer Food Awards’ Junior Chef on the Rise Award, an early acknowledgement of his promise in the kitchen.

His subsequent performance on The World Cook brought that promise to a wider audience. The competition challenged chefs from different countries to adapt to unfamiliar ingredients, locations and cooking conditions, with Card advancing to the final and securing second place.

Card’s culinary interests also have roots at home. In a 2024 interview with Shoutout Miami, he credited his mother, herself a chef, with introducing him to cooking techniques and a range of ingredients. His early fascination with pastry and designer cakes developed into a broader pursuit of cooking, shaped by a willingness to experiment.
