High marks for Malie Donn’s The Golden Child
DANCEHALL artiste Malie Donn continues to make significant strides on the international music scene with his debut studio album, The Golden Child, securing multiple positions on Apple Music charts across several territories.
Released on September 4 through VP Records, the 21-track project has climbed to the #1 spot on Apple Music’s Reggae Albums chart in Bermuda, St Lucia, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The album has also secured the #2 position in Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Guyana, and Anguilla.
Its success extends beyond the reggae category, having peaked at #3 on the overall Apple Music Albums chart in Jamaica, St Lucia, and Antigua and Barbuda.
Internationally, The Golden Child has also made its presence felt, reaching #4 on the Apple Music Reggae Albums chart in the United Kingdom and Canada, and #5 in the United States. The project has additionally charted in France, Denmark, Singapore, and Portugal, underscoring the artiste’s growing appeal beyond traditional dancehall markets.
For Malie Donn, the album represents a defining chapter in his musical journey, reflecting both his personal experiences and artistic evolution.
“ The Golden Child represents everything that brought me to this point — the pressure, the growth, the wins, and the lessons,” Malie Donn shared in a previous interview with the Jamaica Observer. “This album gives people a chance to hear more of who I am as an artiste, where I want to take the music next, and the versatility I bring.”
The project, led by the title track Golden Child, featuring Squash, also boasts collaborations with Byron Messia, DJ Frass, Antuwang, and Javo Donn.
Adding to the momentum, the entertainer has released official music videos for two tracks from the album, Live Life and SWFT, offering fans fresh visuals to complement the project.
The album’s strong chart showing follows a successful outing in London, England, where Malie Donn delivered a sold-out headline performance at indigo at The O2 on September 5, one day after its release. His international visibility received another boost during the album’s release week when he was featured on the cover of Apple Music’s Reggae playlist.
With The Golden Child continuing to resonate with audiences across the Caribbean, North America, Europe, and other territories, Malie Donn is looking to build on the project’s success while further establishing himself as one of dancehall’s emerging international talents.
