Manning Cup games involving Walker Cup finalists KC and JC brought forward to Tuesday

Kingston College (KC) and Jamaica College (JC) will return to Manning Cup action on Tuesday as the two Walker Cup finalists look to maintain their momentum ahead of Friday’s ISSA Walker Cup final.

With the schoolboy football final fast approaching, the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) has brought forward four Manning Cup matches to Tuesday, October 13, involving teams seeking to strengthen their positions in the competition.

KC will face Edith Dalton James High at Stadium East, while JC take on Campion College at Excelsior High. Both matches are scheduled to kick off at 3:30 pm.

The fixtures present an important balancing act for the two finalists, who must remain focused on their Manning Cup campaigns while preparing for Friday’s showdown. Managing their squads and maintaining match sharpness will be key as they navigate a demanding period in the schoolboy football calendar.

KC will be keen to carry their competitive spirit into Tuesday’s encounter against Edith Dalton James, while JC will look to overcome Campion College and build further confidence ahead of the Walker Cup final.

KC used a much changed team in their opening manning cup second round game last week Wednesday against Penwood High which they won 5-0 before playing the Walker Cup semi-final against Excelsior, which was interrupted by rain on Friday and completed on Saturday.

JC had to come from behind in their opening Manning Cup game against St Catherine High before emerging 3-2 winners.

Tuesday’s other fixtures will see Calabar High host Excelsior High, while Mona High entertain Bridgeport High at Mona High. Both games are also set for 3:30 pm.

Wednesday’s programme features eight matches as the Manning Cup competition continues across several venues.

St Catherine High will host Camperdown High, while Wolmer’s Boys will welcome Jose Marti Technical. Charlie Smith High face Norman Manley High at Charlie Smith and St Jago High entertain Holy Trinity High.

Former champions St George’s College will take on Penwood High at St George’s College while Tivoli Gardens High host St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) in what could be an intriguing encounter.

Hillel Academy will face Denham Town High at Hillel Academy, while Vauxhall High meet Eltham High at Rockfort Football Field.

With the Walker Cup final only days away, attention will be divided between the immediate demands of the Manning Cup and the prospect of Friday’s title decider.
