Jamaica receives 22 TCNs, mostly from Latin America
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Most of the 22 third-country nationals (TCNs) who arrived in Jamaica on Tuesday under an agreement with the United States are from Latin American countries, according to the Government.
The group, comprising 15 males and seven females, represents seven nationalities and is the first to arrive in Jamaica under the agreement signed between the Jamaican and US governments in June this year.
In a joint update, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and the Ministry of National Security and Peace said no Caribbean Community (Caricom) national was among the group.
The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) has assumed responsibility for the group’s care and will facilitate their return to their respective countries.
The authorities also confirmed that none of the 22 individuals had any criminal antecedents.
