Jamaican film ‘Redeemed: A Father’s Love’ wins international award
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaican faith-based crime drama Redeemed: A Father’s Love has earned international recognition after securing the Best Ensemble Cast award at the 2026 Caribbean International Film & Fashion Festival (CARIFF) in Wilmington, Delaware.
The award celebrates the collective performances of the film’s Jamaican and international cast, whose portrayal of a gripping story centred on family, betrayal, faith and redemption has resonated with audiences.
Directed by Luc Stephen and executive produced by Reverend Dr Otis Manning, the film features acclaimed American actor Malik Yoba alongside Jacinth Headlam, Charmaine Fenton, Cornelius Grant, Julie Mango, Safaree Samuels, Justin Awn and Prince Saj.
Inspired by a true story, Redeemed: A Father’s Love follows the aftermath of the kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl, whose disappearance sets off an investigation involving a principled police officer, a weary pastor and a mother harbouring secrets from her past.
As the investigation unfolds, shocking revelations emerge, including the discovery that the girl’s kidnapper is her biological father. Through its emotionally charged storyline, the film explores paternity, family secrets, broken relationships and the transformative power of unconditional love and forgiveness.
For Manning, the international recognition represents a significant achievement for the production team and further demonstrates the potential of Jamaica’s growing film industry.
“Winning Best Ensemble Cast at CARIFF 2026 is a tremendous honour. This recognition belongs to our entire cast and crew, whose talent, commitment and collaboration brought Redeemed: A Father’s Loveto life,” he said.
“We set out to tell a meaningful story that would touch lives, spark conversation and demonstrate the potential of Jamaican faith-based filmmaking. This award encourages us to keep telling our stories and creating opportunities for Caribbean talent to shine on the international stage.”
The achievement follows the film’s sold-out premiere in Kingston in August 2026, which marked an important milestone for the production and generated considerable interest in its compelling storyline and talented cast.
Manning also expressed gratitude to the Jamaican media for their overwhelming support throughout the film’s journey, noting that the exposure and encouragement played an instrumental role in bringing greater attention to the project.
With its latest international accolade, Redeemed: A Father’s Love continues to highlight the strength of Jamaican storytelling and the ability of locally produced films to connect with audiences beyond the island’s shores.
