Tyrone Mullings bags first-ever JPL hat-trick for Tru Juice

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – Tyrone Mullings scored Tru-Juice FC’s first-ever Jamaica Premier League hattrick on Sunday as they romped to a 4-0 win over Humble Lion in a clash of promoted teams at the Bramwell Clarke Complex.

Tru-Juice have gotten off to a strong start in their debut season in the JPL and are tied in third place with Waterhouse FC and Tivoli Gardens, all on 11 points.

Montego Bay United surrendered a two-goal lead and had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Arnett Gardens at Jarrett Park but still lead the JPL with 14 points, two more than Racing United.

Also, Tivoli Gardens beat Dunbeholden FC 3-0 while Chapelton Maroons edged Treasure Beach 1-0.

On Sunday, Mullings, who got on the scoresheet for the first time this season, found the back of the net in the 34th, 56th and 69th minutes before Gadail Irving added a fourth in the 79th minute.

At Jarrett Park, Montego Bay’s Jordain Fletcher scored in the first half and teammate Devontae Campbell got his first from the penalty spot early in the second half, but goals from Giovanni Taylor and Roderick Granville ensured Arnett rescued a point.

Fletcher punched home a loose ball just outside the six-yard box in the 14th minute and could have scored two more – heading just wide in the 33rd minute while his shot in the 40th minute from inside the 18-yard box hit the inside of the left upright and ran across the goal line to hit the inside of the other post before goalkeeper Jaedine White got to it.

Montego Bay went up 2-0 in the 49th minute when Campbell was taken down just inside the box before converting the ensuing penalty kick.
Taylor pulled a goal back for Arnett in the 78th minute when he scored from a melee and Granville poked a poked a corner past goalkeeper Davonnie Burton in the 90th minute.

An own goal gave Tivoli Gardens the lead in time added at the end of the first half at the Edward Seaga Complex, before substitute Ajuma Johnson scored the second four minutes into time added in the second half and Barrington Pryce two minutes later.

Chapelton Maroons won a fourth straight game against Treasure Beach, Robino Gordon scoring in the 75th minute in the game played at Drax Hall.

Sunday’s Results
Montego Bay United-2, Arnett Gardens-2
Chapelton Maroons-1, Treasure Beach-0
Tru-Juice FC-4, Humble Lion-0
Tivoli Gardens-3, Dunbeholden FC- 0
