Construction worker charged with murder after two years on the run

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A construction worker who had been on the run for more than two years in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old plumber in Gordon Pen, St Catherine, has been apprehended and charged.

He is 30-year-old Lans Greene, a construction worker from the community, who has been charged with the murder of Joel Davidson.

According to reports from the Spanish Town police, about 8:00 pm on August 24, 2024, Davidson was standing along the roadway when he was reportedly approached by Greene.

An argument reportedly developed between the two men, during which Greene allegedly armed himself with a piece of iron and struck Davidson several times in the head.

Davidson was rendered unconscious and transported to hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.

On Sunday, August 25, 2024, Davidson succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

The matter was reported to the police, and an investigation was launched.

On Monday, October 19, 2026, Greene was apprehended by the police after being on the run for more than two years. A warrant was executed, and he was arrested and subsequently charged.

He is scheduled to appear before the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
