Teebone and Gothic join forces for ‘Oxygen’

From arguably the hottest region in dancehall, Teebone and Gothic agreed it was logical to record a song together. That track, Oxygen, was released on October 15.

Produced by Grabba Taylor Ent, it is the Montego Bay natives’ first collaboration. They decided to share the mic while in Panama last June.

“The collaboration was Teebone’s idea and one of my bros who is a producer named Breadwinnaz Recordz. I mentioned it to my manager, EmpressAnnRecordz, and immediately she loved the idea as well,” said Gothic.

They recorded Oxygen shortly after returning to Montego Bay, which has produced some of the biggest names in dancehall in recent years, including Tommy Lee Sparta and Teejay. Gothic was raised in Granville, while Teebone is from Cornwall Courts.

Gothic credits their longtime friendship for the chemistry that played out in the recording studio.

“It was very easy for us because we were both in the studio at the time. Both of us have a high energy, plus his team, my team and others loved it so we knew it was a sure go,” he said.

In recent months, Gothic has focused on the reggaeton market which is lucrative in countries like Panama and Puerto Rico. To help break him in that scene, he has collaborated with Spanish artistes on songs like Braff and Rodando En La City.

Teebone started his recording career around the same time as Gothic. His songs include Paranoid, Rejected and One Of A Kind.
