Birthday King aims for three-in-a-row in Hover Craft Sprint
Birthday King (USA) headlines a small but capable field of six runners for the $2-million Hover Craft Sprint at Caymanas Park tomorrow.
The event is a Restricted Allowance I contest for native-bred and imported two-year-olds (non-winners of three) over 6 furlongs (1,200m).
The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a close look at each runner and their chances of winning.
1. BOSS OVER BOSS: (2 ch c by Bern Identity – Woman Is Boss) – Finished third, beaten 21 lengths, behind Birthday King and Sooryavanshi over 5½ furlongs (1,100m) on October 10. Has talent but with Birthday King present here, his chances of winning are very slim.
2. BIRTHDAY KING (USA): (2 ch c by Kantharos – Always Kitten) – Unbeaten in two starts so far. Has been training well coming into this race and based on class and talent, he should make it three wins in a row. The one to beat.
3. GLAMMA GIRL: (2 b f by Bern Identity – Indian Bluff) – Has no chance of winning.
4. MAZZARO (USA): (2 dk b/br c by Upstart – Subtlety) – Nicely bred colt who makes his local debut here. Has been moving fairly well in the mornings but a winning run at first time of asking against these is unlikely.
5. LEELA’S CHOICE: (2 b f by Sir Alton – Antoinette) – Outclassed in this company. Is going to be left behind.
6. BIG STACK (USA): (2 dk b/br c by Drain The Clock – Tahaweel) – Made an impressive debut on September 26, winning by 7½ lengths in 48.4 over 4 furlongs (800m). Has been working well since and could upset the favourite here. The danger.
