I Dream Again seeks overdue win in Announcers’ Trophy

The 5th running of the $1.25-million Caymanas Park Announcers’ Trophy, a Restricted Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over 6½ furlongs (1,300m), takes centre stage on tomorrow’s 10-race card at Caymanas Park.

Below, the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a look at each runner and their chances of winning.

1. BOB THE BUILDER: (4 b c Hedge Fund – Sound of Miracle) – Struggling to get competitive at this level. Hard to recommend.

2. MOHANLAL : (3 b c Casual Trick – Raise Your Voice) – Progressive colt who has yet to fire in two tries at this grade. Better is expected, should be running on late.

3. DANKA: (4 ch f Aveenu Malcainu – Baby P) – Faces a steep rise in class. This looks too tough.

4. NEBUCHADNEZZAR: (4 ch c Soul Warrior – Queen of Baghdad) – Well beaten of late. Needs to find plenty.

I Dream Again.

5. CALIFORNIA GOLD: (6 b h Lion Tamer – Blue Saphira) – Best watched for now.

6. PRINCESS FIANIE: (5 b m Soul Warrior – Ship Sham) – Outgunned against these.

7. MY SUNSHINE: (5 b m Sunshine N Shadow – Noon It Is) – Not shaping as a threat.

8. I DREAM AGAIN: (4 b c Soul Warrior – Lady Najariya) – The form horse in the line-up. Ultra-consistent this season with one win, three seconds, and three thirds from nine starts from 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight to a mile (1,600m). His lone win came over 7 furlongs (1,400m) on April 26, but has been knocking hard since. The trip suits, the condition is right. I Dream Again is the one to beat.

9. STARRAURA: (4 ch f Bold Conquest – Little Wasp) – Not seen enough to be considered.

10. MARK MY IDENTITY: (4 ch c Bern Identity – Sweet Like Sugar) – Returns off 125 days. Mark My Identity was last seen finishing sixth behind Miss Grove and American Aviator over 7 furlongs on June 28. Working well for return and on class, he is capable of winning first time back. Major danger.

Formalist.

Formalist.

11. ABREATHOFFRESHAIR: (5 b h Perfect Curlin – City Flight) – Likely to be outpaced early.

12. KING PIYE: (5 ch h Admiral Alex – Jamaican Pharoah) – Lacks recent form to trouble these.

13. FORMALIST: (4 ch c Bold Conquest – Miss Formality) – Zero for m4 at this level. Nothing to suggest a turnaround.

14. COOKIE DAY N NIGHT: (6 ch h Resurgence – Eloping Emma) – Veteran who pops up with a big run now and again. Cannot be ruled out for the exotics.

15. HONOUR PRINCE: (4 b c Bern Identity – Awesome Lucy) – Disappointing down the straight on Oct 10. Better is expected with the extra distance.

16. PRINCESS CATALEYA: (5 b m Casual Trick – Classical Princess) – Up against it.
