Favored Acerededicates his life to Christ

While pursuing a career as a secular artiste and using the name Dxmx Ace, he experienced an encounter that made him decide to rededicate his life to Christ.

That rededication came with a rebranding of sorts, and he has since changed his name to Favored Ace.

The gospel deejay, originally from Portmore, St Catherine, and now pursuing studies in interior design and architecture at Daytona State College, Florida, USA, has been making heads turn with his dancehall gospel music over the past two years.

In a recent interview with the Jamaica Observer, he explained his decision to leave the secular world.

“Well, it’s not a topic that I really talk about a lot. But what I will say is that after my second song began to trend I had an encounter, and I was asked to sell my soul and not speak about God or Jesus in any of my songs. And, realising how dark the industry was, I decided to give my life to Christ and sing for him,” the artiste explained.

Favored Ace entered the music scene three years ago. His music primarily targets non-Christians.

“Well, I would say I’m making for both, but the audience I’m more intentional about grabbing is the non-Christians, because I believe that’s the entire purpose of the gospel; to spread it and win souls. If I’m only singing for Christians then I’m not really doing anything for the cause,” he reasoned.

The 21-year-old former student of Bridgeport High, born Dominic Pitterson, said he has had his share of temptation along his Christian journey.

“Of course, temptation is an ongoing thing, and that’s why the Bible says you have to pick up your cross daily because you must fight temptation every day. But it also says to flee from temptation, so I try my best to not put myself in certain areas where I know I’m going to be tempted,” Favored Ace disclosed.

And what has been the biggest lesson learnt since he gave his life to Christ?

“That we are all sinners, no matter who sinned more. Between someone who killed a person and someone who stole a pencil, they all fall under sin in God’s eyes, and we are all free to get his grace if we want it. All you have to do is ask and you’re forgiven,” he said.

Favored Ace recently released the song Straight Jesus.
