Loyal Flames to release debut album

Artiste pleased with Skippa endorsement

Some 15 years after he began to pursue music professionally, reggae artiste Loyal Flames is gearing up to release his debut album early next year.

The 16-track project which is titled Break Free: The Journey, is to be released and distributed by European-based Evidence Music and Little Lion.

“This is my first album and I am happy that it will finally be released so that the fans can continue to enjoy the positive vibrations and messages that I have been sending. It’s a joy to see the music will be available as a full body of work to the fans,” he told the Jamaica Observer recently.

Loyal Flames has reasons to celebrate. One of his songs, Working, which was first released in 2011, has received a new lease on life, thanks to a video that has now gone viral of red-hot dancehall artiste Skippa requesting the song at an event.

In the video, which was uploaded to several blogs and Instagram pages, Skippa was asked by a selector which song he wanted to request. Skippa immediately responded that he wanted to hear Working by Loyal Flames.

Several viewers flocked to the comments section with positive vibes about the song, which was produced by Vikings Production and released on the Baby Mother rhythm, 15 years ago.

Under the official music video, which has now racked up more than 720,000 views on YouTube, fans commented that Skippa’s endoresement had brought them to the video.

“I am grateful to see the younger generation of entertainers gravitating to my music. I continually say, “Real music fi real people. Skippa is a real person who appreciates real music. Much appreciate his endorsement,” Loyal Flames stated.

Loyal Flames said the song is not one of his popular songs, and he was surprised that Skippa knew about it.

“The surprise, for me, is the song choice. Working is not one of my popular songs. It means that I’ve been doing the right thing all along. So, all I can do now is to continue putting in the great work that people want to see,” Loyal Flames disclosed.

Working speaks about hardships and struggles despite working to survive and to beat the odds.

“The song was a mere reflection of what was going on in my life and around me,” he said. “So, it was quite easy for Vikings and me to pencil this song in studio. And even though it was first released so many years ago, the song is still relevant today because people can relate to the lyrics.”

Born Devar Stennett, Loyal Flames is from Old Harbour in St Catherine. His latest singles include Found a Queen produced by DJ Jason and World Cry produced by Billboard King Records.
