LASCO Financial Services throws support behind Soccer Saints

LASCO Financial Services Limited (LFSL) has reaffirmed its commitment to community development and the advancement of grass roots sports through a donation of medical supplies to St Catherine-based corner league team, Soccer Saints Football Club. The supplies are aimed at strengthening the club’s ability to provide care for players and manage minor injuries sustained on the field.

The donation forms part of LASCO Financial’s continued efforts to support organisations that positively impact the communities they serve. The medical supplies, which include gauze, band-aids, wipes, pain relief gel, knee and wrist supports, and other essential first aid items, will assist the club in responding to minor injuries and ensuring that players have access to basic medical care during training and matches.

For Soccer Saints, the contribution represents meaningful support for a club that has spent the past decade building its presence in local football competitions while fostering a strong sense of camaraderie among its members.

Melville Lumley, manager of Soccer Saints Football Club, expressed gratitude for the partnership, noting that the club’s initial outreach to LASCO Financial Services came amid financial challenges and a need for sponsorship to support its operations.

“Soccer Saints is a corner league football team based in St Catherine. We’ve been here for 10 years. We have always been playing in different leagues in St Catherine and a corporate league, winning most of them. We, unfortunately, encountered some financial challenges and so we started the conversation about sponsorship. LASCO Financial was open to it, and they have been very kind in doing their best to equip us with medical supplies,” Lumley said.

The donation also holds particular significance for the club’s management team, which places considerable emphasis on unity, discipline and the familial bond shared among its players. Gabrielle Thompson, assistant manager of Soccer Saints, described the team as a close-knit group whose passion for football extends beyond the pitch.

“The team is full of vibrant players. They’re very much dedicated to their game, and they look forward to every time they get to participate in all of the corner leagues. So, it’s always a joy to see them out on the field having fun, and off the field as well, because they are a family,” Thompson said.

Samantha Fuller Maragh, brand manager for card services at LASCO Financial Services Limited, said the company was pleased to respond to the club’s request.

“When the Soccer Saints Football Club reached out to us, we were elated to collaborate with them. We’re sponsoring the nursing department by donating medical supplies to help the players if they get injured — whether it’s any minor cuts or sprains that they might have,” Fuller-Maragh explained.

She expressed optimism about the continued partnership, noting that LASCO Financial Services looks forward to supporting the team as they continue their football journey and represent themselves on the field.

Through initiatives such as this, LASCO Financial Services Limited continues to demonstrate the importance of partnerships in strengthening community organisations and supporting initiatives that promote teamwork, camaraderie and positive engagement.
