Waterhouse edge Cavalier to take over JPL lead

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Waterhouse FC climbed to the top of the Legend Jamaica Premier League after beating Cavalier FC 2-1 in their first round game played at Drewsland on Monday evening.

It was the fifth win of the campaign for Waterhouse, one of two teams yet to lose a game.

Waterhouse now lead the table with 18 points, overtaking Tru-Juice who are on 17 points, followed by Racing United on 16 points and Montego Bay United on 15 points.

In the first game of the double-header, Mt Pleasant FA continued their resurgence with a 2-1 win over Molynes United and moved up to seventh place on 10 points, trailing sixth place Cavalier FC on goals scored.

Alexander Bicknell, with his first goal of the season, and Omani Leacock both scored for Waterhouse while Dwayne Allen had tied up the scores for Cavalier just before half time.

Bicknell gave Waterhouse the lead in the 36th minute with a powerful header from a short corner from the left wing from Leacock.

Allen pulled Cavalier level in time added at the end of the first half when he finished off a good two man move, firing the ball under the body of goalkeeper Akeem Bernard,

Leacock restored Waterhouse’s lead with a brilliant strike in the 62nd minute, picking off an errant pass from a Cavalier defender and hitting it on the volley into the top right hand corner of the goal.

In the first game, Daniel Green scored a brace to lead Mt Pleasant to back-to-back wins, scoring in the 23rd and 58th minutes, his first goals of the season.

Shevon Miller came off the bench to pull a goal back for Molynes in the 66th minute but was sent off in time added at the end of the second half.
