Patra creates waves on Rock The Bells cruise
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaican dancehall icon Patra proved that she remains a formidable force in entertainment after delivering an electrifying performance aboard the Rock the Bells Hip-Hop Cruise on November 4, thrilling patrons with her signature dance moves and a catalogue of timeless hits.
The Queen of the Pack commanded the stage with performances of fan favourites including Queen of the Pack, Workerman, Romantic Call, Pull Up to the Bumper and Scent of Attraction, accompanied by her trademark waistline movements and even a few push-ups.
Her energetic set drew an enthusiastic response from the audience, with scores of patrons rushing to meet the entertainer as she exited the stage. Security personnel attempted to manage the crowd, but Patra insisted on accommodating her supporters.
“C’mon, let them through. I couldn’t be where I am without them,” she told security before posing for more than 100 photographs with fans.
The cruise, which sailed from Miami to Montego Bay from November 1 to 6, featured an impressive line-up of hip-hop heavyweights, including T.I., Public Enemy, Jadakiss, E-40, Too $hort, Scarface, Doug E. Fresh, EPMD and Jermaine Dupri.
Patra was among the featured performers representing Jamaica’s dancehall culture at the event.
The following day, November 5, she participated in the Women in Hip-Hop panel alongside Rah Digga, DJ Spinderella, Roxanne Shanté, Monie Love and Bahamadia.
During the discussion, the dancehall veteran spoke candidly about her career, experiences with former management, the circumstances surrounding her break from the spotlight, and her plans for the future. She also shared insights into the fitness and wellness routine that has helped her maintain her appearance since her rise to international prominence in the 1990s.
Her contributions resonated with both the audience and fellow panellists, adding another memorable moment to her appearance aboard the cruise.
Meanwhile, Patra is continuing to strengthen her international presence through new music and cross-cultural collaborations.
She is featured on Conexões, a six-track EP released on November 6 through Reggaetime Records. Executive produced by Cindy Jones, the project celebrates the musical connections between Jamaica and Brazil, bringing together artistes from both countries.
Patra appears on Queen Inna Di Place, her first collaboration with Brazilian reggae and dancehall artiste Arcanjo Ras. Other contributors include Mis Ivy, Buia Kalu, Emcee Lê, A Pretaa and BNegão, co-founder of Brazilian group Planet Hemp.
Discussions are also underway for Patra to visit Brazil for engagements in early 2027, while upcoming appearances in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom are also on her international itinerary.
The entertainer has remained active in the recording studio, recently releasing Me So Sexy as part of a JHouse Entertainment project led by producer Freddy Browne. The song’s accompanying music video has also been released, while her track No Threat is among her recent musical offerings.
Following appearances at the Caribbean Music Awards in Barbados and the Rock the Bells Hip-Hop Cruise, Patra continues to demonstrate the enduring appeal of her music, reconnecting with longtime supporters while introducing her distinctive dancehall sound to new audiences.
