Book launch… ‘The Jamaican Woman: A celebration’
Accomplished writer, Joanne Simpson, under the distinguished patronage of Lady Cooke, will launch her newest publication,’ Jamaican Woman: A Celebration’, on Thursday, October 4, 2001 at King’s House.
This timely, pictorial page-turner captures biographically the achievements and contribution to nation building of some 200 outstanding Jamaican women, throughout the 20th century.
The women are drawn from the fields of politics, community service, diplomatic corps, the visual & performing arts, literary arts, communications, education, business and management, the judiciary, law enforcement, religion, culinary arts, tourism and travel, sports, fashion and beauty.
Mrs Beverley Anderson-Manley, noted communicator and advocate for the advancement of gender related issues, will be the guest speaker.
The books will be available locally at Sangster’s Book Stores and select locations across the island.
