Starr Jones’ birthday party for Jamaica
My how the weeks are flying. It’s almost February. The rage in the city seems to be those sleek Lexus convertibles now seen at many weddings and funerals.
The one which the bride arrived in at The Chinese Benevolent Society on Old Hope Road caused as much excitement in the usually sleepy neighbourhood as did that low-flying jet.
And talking about the rage. The fashion buzz out of Europe is decidely sizzling, but here in the swanky neighbourhoods it’s all about dining in time. Dinner party invitations continue to circulate. One such was hosted by John Issa and the family for Michael Lee Chin, new NCB owner, the evening after the signing.
Those with no contacts at that Trafalgar Road address, are busy licking up to get on that receiving line. Over at King’s House, there’s a flurry of activities and Tatler can now confirm that HRH will be at one end of the corridor with her lady in waiting whilst hubby will occupy the other end. Dennis Lalor is the contact person for all other matters pertaining to Ma’am.
Richard Morin is now the most eligible male in town, and many an enquiry is being made about his whereabouts.
That fun-loving attorney Starr Jones of `The View’ in association with In Style magazine is putting together the finishing touches to her 40th birthday party in March. Starr, Barbara Walters, Diana Ross, Nancy Wilson and lots more are slated to join Heinz at Half Moon total of 40 outstanding American women. The birthday party is to be held at Silent Waters. In Style has the exclusive coverage. All the guests will be dressed in white … more anon!
Island Village will next week Saturday be the party venue. If you have not received your invite please do not call. By the way, the Kingston office at Worthington is no longer occupied. The Island folks have moved to Ochi. There’s demand for the burnt orange compound but why do people want to change the colour. Thankfully it’s owned outright so there’s no real rush to rent it.
The polo set are still on the rock. Polo lover and organiser Paul Lalor had the Polo Club buzzing yesterday.
Jimmy Buffet will be leading the party at Margueritaville Ocho Rios come February 23 and in Kingston the buzz has already started about Karen Clarke’s “Evening of Elegance”.
The sister served the summons. Your guess is as good as mine as to how it will all pan out.
And the love birds are still cooing whilst others are totally perplexed as to what went wrong with the other alliance for surely he wanted a busy woman.
The big question this week is who will make the ex Miss MPM a … ?
No sign of Miss Resurrection Boulevard since Mike’s wife filed for divorce.
A Bientot!
Some people in the Golden Triangle are perturbed that all the new telephone lines have been routed to the new townhouse complex occupied by Mr musical chairs.
Well it’s only fair that such a senior employee has a phone or three.

Ladies beware of those supermarket packers at some of our preferred places. They pack in twos and habitually forget to send you home with everything. Supermarket owners need to be aware of this too.
