Bringing SEXY back
MANY women get so caught up in everyday drudgery that they often don’t find the time for being sexy and when things get really bad, they blame their lacklustre love life on the kids, their jobs and the mounting financial woes. But there are others who know that it’s possible to be sexy, even when you’re at your worst, or your busiest. Millions of women do it daily — they exude sex appeal even when life throws all its challenges at them.
It’s never too late to kick things into gear. Know that somewhere behind all that maternal garb and mom jeans there is a sexy mama just waiting to be unleashed. And while it’s not yet summer, the heat is surely building, and now’s the time to join the “bringing sexy back” boot camp, and bring that sexy, confident fun-loving girl back from where she’s hiding.
1. Unleash the sexy diva within: If you’ve never owned anything silky in your life, then now is an opportune time to do so. While you’re at it, invest in some sexy undies and get out those stilettos that you’ve had stashed away. You’ll find them to be your most precious assets in the days ahead. You’ll be amazed at how looking good can make you become so in love with yourself and lose the inhibitions — just try it, you’ll see.
2. Stop comparing: You might not have a butt like Jennifer Lopez or a ribcage like Janet Jackson, but we are sure you’ve got something that makes you special. Focus on that instead of lamenting on what you don’t have, and for Pete’s sake, stop comparing yourself with others.
3. Ditch the mama wear: Let’s just get one thing clear: wearing pyjamas outside of your bedroom is just not sexy, so you’ve got to stop dressing like 30 going on 70. Having a child is not a legitimate excuse to look “pop down”, it’s not a valid reason to not look sexy, whether you are at the park or behind closed doors.
4. Go back down memory lane: Remember those days when the sight of you would make your husband turn to putty, when you were sexy and flirtatious and not afraid to strut your stuff? Well now that you have remembered, we want you to bring her back. You still have it in you to create that effect; you just have to connect with your sensual self.
5. Add a bit of glitz and glamour: A new hairdo, a nice pedicure and a manicure can do wonders for your self-esteem, but if you are strapped for cash, doing simple things like playing up your eyes with a nice shade of eye-shadow or wearing bright-coloured lip gloss can work as well. Instead of dashing through the door all the time, spend an extra 15 minutes to flirt with the mirror. And men love a great fragrance, so don’t forget to spritz away.
6. Endorse you: Yes, you are taller than most or shorter than most or have a few extra pounds, so what? There is always a way to make your disadvantages your advantages. Be creative and find ways to boost how you look, because if you don’t think you are sexy, then nobody else will.
7. Get rid of the distractions: We know it’s the age of technology, but isn’t it much cooler attracting a guy in person than online? We in no way wish to suggest that you should break ties with your laptop, but sometimes our obsession with computers cause us to forget ourselves. The same thing goes for the television, our jobs and yes, our children. Sometimes you just need to unplug everything, so that you can plug into yourself.
8. Learn to dance: You need to learn to move your body sometimes, shake those hips and just dance. Dancing is exhilarating, even when you don’t know what you are doing. Just let the music take you to a place where you can connect with the inner you, because only then will the sexy person inside be unleashed.
9. Take time for you: Nothing is wrong with wanting to spend an extra 15 minutes after showering to pamper yourself before you go into ‘mommy’ mode. Spend time to carefully apply your lotion instead of slapping it on, and comb your hair — after all, you are important too.
